20-year-old charged after crash near Nottingham Trent campus left three people injured

A 20-year-old has been charged with dangerous driving following a crash near a Nottingham university campus.

Muhammad Asim was involved in a crash outside Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton campus on September 20th of last year.

Emergency services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Remembrance Way, in which three people were injured in the accident, NottinghamshireLive reports. 

The accident occurred in the early hours of Friday 20th September 2024, as Nottinghamshire Police confirmed the collision was after one of the drivers drove through a red light. The cars involved were a Ford Fiesta and BMW.

Muhammad Asim was one of the two drivers involved in the collision and was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.

A 50-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Three people were injured, with a passenger from each car sustaining life threatening injuries from the crash.

Muhammad Asim was charged with three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 9th October.

Nottinghamshire Police requested people contact it on 101, quoting incident number 32 of September 20th, if they have any information on the incident.
