We’re hiring: The London Tab needs a new Social Media Editor, and we want you!

Applications close at midnight this Friday (5th September)

Attention London students: The Tab is looking for someone to join our London editorial team as our Social Media editor, and we want you!

It’s finally time to put that phone addiction to good use, and students from any London university (except King’s College, as they have a separate Tab page) are encouraged to apply.

We’re looking for students who can spot a trend before anybody else does, and someone passionate about creating relatable and entertaining content about uni life.

You can apply via the Google form at the bottom of this article, with applications closing at 23:59pm on Friday 5th September.

If you have any questions about the role, please get in touch via our Instagram

So, what actually is the job?

Applications for The Birmingham Tab's 2025/26 editorial team are now open

As Social Media Editor, you’ll have creative control over our Instagram and Facebook pages, which have a combined reach of almost 30,000 followers. Your responsibilities will include promoting our articles, sharing and creating memes about London news and student life, and posting regular content on our stories to keep our followers engaged.

You may also get the opportunity to attend PR events such as restaurant launches and influencer events.

If you’re up-to-date with all the latest social media trends and you want to put your daily doom-scrolling to good use, this is great experience to have on your CV.

You don’t need any prior experience to apply, but you’ll need a good knowledge of using Instagram and Facebook, and experience with using Canva would also be useful. Don’t worry about TikTok – we have a separate TikTok editor who you’ll be working with to boost our overall social media presence.

You’ll need to be a student currently studying in London (or an incoming fresher), and you’ll need to be committed to the role: The London Tab has influence across all London unis, and the reach of our articles relies on having a top-notch social media game.

The editorial team also run weekly meetings across the academic year, which the successful applicant is expected to attend.

You’ll receive training from the team at The Tab HQ as part of the role, and gain a wide range of fantastic journalism and content creation experience. Previous editors and contributors at The Tab have gone on to work for BBC News, The Telegraph, Vogue, and more.

As an editor, you’ll also have the opportunity to write for the national Tab website (which amasses over nine million monthly views) and network with other student Tab editors from across the country at our biannual London get togethers.
