Drag Race’s Utica calls out Project Runway after Law Roach’s ‘harsh’ judging comments

Project Runway is back, and the show has been getting considerable notoriety for how savage the judging is – it’s honestly giving 00s reality TV again. A lot of fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race have been tuned into Project Runway this time around for two major reasons. One of those is that season 13 fan fave Utica is competing on the show, out of drag as Ethan. Another is that Drag Race rotating judge and hugely famous celebrity stylist Law Roach is one of the main judges. Utica received harsh critique in the latest Project Runway episode, and the Drag Race star has addressed it and the criticism she got from Law Roach in some savage new quotes after a viewing party. The judging on the show has been controversial so far.

During the harsh critiques of Ethan on Project Runway, Law Roach told him that he “let the drag persona take over this week” – as Ethan had presented on the runway as Drag Race legend Utica. Law also said “I wish Ethan had showed up today and not Utica”. But then in a viewing party for the episode, Utica revealed that “they asked me to be in drag that day”. Right…

Speaking at a viewing party, Utica says “Some tea – they asked me to be in drag that day. I have been looking for my moment to be in drag on this programme. At the beginning of episode one, they have us walking around New York. That was like one moment I could control where I could be in drag. I’ll just be in drag walking around the city, that’s awesome. Introduce me as Utica to the world – that’s amazing. I got in full drag and they told me to change.

“And they waited until now to do it [be in drag].”

Utica also explained “At the beginning of the first workday, they had a meeting. The production team came in and they were like, ‘All right. So, yes, Heidi said that this look is for Sophia Vergara’. However, this is the producer of the show. Mind you, they brought back the original producer for the new season. He’s like head-honcho pants.”

Law Roach told Utica and the losing team “I did not come to work and get this beautiful glam to look at a bunch of f*cking ugly clothes. I’m sorry. I am pissed off; I’m mad.” Law had previously told Ethan, “you didn’t give a fuck about the other people on the team.”

People now think that Ethan / Utica will be in the firing line to get eliminated next on the show, or certainly soon.
