Game of Thrones star returns to Lancaster for new short film
Filming of The Premiere takes place at the Lancaster Grand Theatre
A Game of Thrones star is set to return to Lancaster for a new short film.
Game of Thrones’ Roger Ashton-Griffith will be starring alongside Marrowbone actress Nicola Harrison in The Premiere.
Filming is taking place at the Lancaster Grand Theatre on 26th and 27th July.
However, the theatre isn’t the only link to the movie for the city.
This is because Lancaster University film studies lecturers Enni Red and Maryam Ghorbankarimi are involved in production, and the leads Ashton-Griffith and Harrison are also graduates from the university. Lancaster University students, alumni and staff also make up most of the cast and crew. Ms Ghorbankarimi said “it’s incredible to see our graduates coming back to Lancaster to create something special together”.
Additionally, locals are comprising the 200 background extras needed for key scenes being filmed on Sunday 27th July.
The film follows a well-known British director (Griffith) attending a local film festival premiere of his latest work when the Q&A session takes a turn. Themes of abuse of power, accountability and the #MeToo movement are explored.
After completion, the film will be submitted to several international film festivals.
More information about the film can be found via its Instagram page.
