An urban legend in the making, the area surrounding Wirral has become plagued by the emergence of a masked cat man who is meowing about the town and stalking residents.
Dressed in a skintight black catsuit and wearing cat ears and a full-face mask, the currently unidentified man has been prowling around the local area in the dead of night. His motivations are currently unknown, but people have been sharing pictures and footage on Facebook and TikTok.
“I sat there for a good five minutes until I looked back at the picture. I spotted something on the picture. It looked like a black figure so I put the flash on my phone on and I saw the ‘cat man’ sitting there staring right at me. I was absolutely shaken,” one person detailed.
So here’s everything we know, which admittedly is not a lot.

Though he’s yet to commit any serious crimes or reveal some underlying motive for his very odd actions, the cat man has been sighted prowling across sand dunes, lurking behind bus shelters, and even sneaking up on people in their parked cars.
“I was sitting in my car, minding my own business, and I heard a bang on the passenger window, and it was a silhouetted figure saying ‘meow’ repeatedly,” one person recalled in a Facebook group dedicated to Wirral’s cat man.
“Clearly dressed in black, and it had cat ears. Face was completely covered, with only piercing eyes visible.”

The cat man was initially sighted at Wallasey Beach, Wirral, but he’s since been spotted throughout New Brighton, Moreton and Leasowe Bay.
This is definitely the type of weird-ass trend to catch on, like the killer clowns from 2016, and there are already copycat cat men on TikTok. One is “dedicated to fighting cat man” using all nine of his lives.

According to the Liverpool Echo, residents of the area have taken up arms to hunt for the Wirral cat man. They reportedly congregate at the “top end of New Brighton” each night equipped with torches. At the time of writing, the masked mystery has remained just that, a mystery.
