Passenger calls out parents who left kids unattended in cabin to fly first class
‘Incredibly irresponsible and selfish’
A Delta Airline passenger has slammed parents who left their two young kids alone in premium economy while they sat comfortably in business class.
Posting to Reddit, user u/SuavecitoMojito expressed disbelief over the situation on a plane from New York to Atlanta. They said the kids, both under the age of eight, were left completely unsupervised in premium economy. Meanwhile, the parents relaxed in Delta One, sipping champagne behind the curtain.
“They hadn’t even tried to settle the kids before disappearing,” the post read. “One of the kids is just full-on camping with his finger up his nose while watching an iPad on full blast through speakers, despite having headphones on. He’s also taken up the hobby of repeatedly kicking the poor man’s seat in front of him and yelling for his mom. Worst of all, he has also gotten up multiple times during taxi.”
It didn’t go down well online either

The original poster called the situation “loud, messy chaos.” They criticised the parents for putting their comfort above their kids’ behaviour and everyone else’s peace. “Incredibly irresponsible and selfish,” they wrote. “If you’re not ready to parent on a plane, maybe don’t book yourself away from your children in a separate class.”
The post quickly gained traction, with thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments from equally stunned travellers. One person commented, “Parenting doesn’t stop because you’re behind a curtain with a mimosa.” Another added, “Honestly, one parent should’ve stayed with them. How is this even real?”

Some people admitted they understood the temptation to escape the chaos. But others pointed out that parenting on a plane is still parenting. “These are probably the same people who preach about how rewarding kids are and then tap out when it’s inconvenient,” one person said.
So far, the parents haven’t been identified. And it’s unclear whether the flight crew ever asked them to come back and help.
