The time is here: Voting has opened for the first round of Exeter’s BNOC competition

You have until Wednesday 21st May at 2pm to vote decide who goes into our semi final

As the academic year comes to close and the Exeter celebrations start rolling in, we all can’t help but wonder: Who is the BNOC of 2025?

We all know that BNOCs (Big Names on Campus) are all over Exeter, whether that’s in your sports society, on your course or even just a frequent attendee at every TP night. The time has finally arrived where the University of Exeter decides WHO is their BNOC of 2025.

This year’s candidates have been nominated for reasons ranging from being a big part of their sports society or just being known for their friendliness on campus. We’ve had a wide range of icons for this year’s competition. So, here is the first round of candidates and get voting via the Google Form! The deadline for votes is 2pm on Wednesday 21st May.

Boris Angelov: Second year, law

Boris is a second year, LLB law student who is nominated for this year’s BNOC competition. Although he is a man who enjoys walking by the Quayside and taking the train down to Exmouth, his status is well known on campus.

His hobbies include writing poetry, and he is described as a funny, hardworking and kind person. A true BNOC, if there ever was one.

Patrick Andrews: First year, classics

I have so many questions rn

You may recognise this silly fresher as he is part of UOERL and Calsoc. Patrick is known to be a “liability, alcoholic and angry Scotsman”. Does this fresh have your votes for BNOC 2025?

Fiona Hayes: Second year, politics and international relations

Fiona is the ultimate Exeter girly. She’s a second year student studying politics and international relations, and when she’s not putting the world to right, she’s playing lacrosse. Very Exeter, if I say so myself.

This nominated BNOC is described by her friends as “chatty, kind and clumsy”, so she’s a real triple threat. Does she have your vote?

Luke Akam-Taylor: Second year, economics

Luke is currently a second year student studying economics so he’s basically Lord Sugar.

This future finance bro calls himself “music obsessed” and is part of the beloved Gig Soc.

With Luke telling others to “join Gig Soc 25/26!”, does this music lover economic student have your vote? We’ll find out soon!

Abged Siddig: Third year, medicine

Although in third year and studying medicine, Abged is a well-known name on campus. He’s into music, “consuming God-awful media with friends” and is a Cavern Saturday lover.

He is also described as a “Frank Ocean lookalike”, and he is a literal life saver so what’s better than that?

You may also recognise this BNOC from the Forum Starbucks as he not only serves coffee but also loves to yap with costumers. A man after my own heart.

You can vote until 2pm on Wednesday 21st May via the form below. The top two candidates will go through to our semi final against our round two candidates.
