Doechii just addressed the backlash that she ‘mistreated’ her team in viral Met Gala video

Doechii found herself at the centre of a load of viral backlash after a video of her speaking in a sharp tone to her team during her departure for the Met Gala created a LOT of discourse – and not in the way I’m sure she wanted for her first appearance at the event. It’s been a major year for Doechii as she finally got her commercial breakthrough, and all eyes were on her for the event. She looked amazing, but the backlash was major and now Doechii just addressed the accusations she was ‘mistreating’ her team in the Met Gala video. And she handled the situation like a pro, really.

Wait, what happened?

To keep cameras off and shield her from the rain, the viral clips show Doechii shouting and demanding more umbrellas to cover the top in a way that has led to people online accusing her of “mistreating” her team.

“Yes, I’m ready.” Doechii says. She then shouted, “Give me another umbrella, now!” before adding, “And another, go!” With her team frantically to try and not get her hair wet.

Some on Twitter / X were calling out Doechii for “mistreating” staff at Met Gala. “Love Doechii but she was talking crazy to them. I would’ve said f*** the damn umbrellas,” wrote one.

She then went into it further in a statement on her Instagram story, where Doechii addressed the Met Gala discourse by saying “And all jokes aside I’m so so so proud of my glam team and the LV [Louis Vuitton, who dressed her] team for an incredible night.

“We’ve been dreaming about this Met for a long time and the theme this year is in such alignment with who I am and what I stand for. It’s nothing but God that this year was our debut. Everyone killed it. We nailed the theme – and a time was had.”
