MAFS’ Adrian posted a nasty parenting dig at Awhina that was so bad, he deleted it
‘It wasn’t the kid, it was you’
Adrian Araouzou’s messy antics on MAFS are nothing particularly new, but following the breakdown of his marriage to Awhina Rutene, he took the opportunity to make a mean-spirited jab about her parenting skills on TikTok. He’s since deleted the post, with people questioning why he chose to take it down.
Awhina was not the first person with a young kid on Married at First Sight Australia, but admittedly, she made the situation worse by seemingly forgetting to clue her husband in until AFTER their nuptials. Though Adrian claimed he was fine with it, her priorities as a mother became a long-running storyline during the season.
@sodramaticonline MAFS’ Adrian has slammed Awhina in a deleted TikTok, and we’re not about the mum-shaming! MAFSAU MAFS
In a TikTok originally posted to Adrian’s account, he walked down the street to Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us as floating text jabbed at Awhina’s parenting skills with: “No revenge [because] you being the clubs every [weekend] and still away from your son is validating everyone. It wasn’t the kid, it was you.”
Though he didn’t name Awhina in the poorly-written TikTok, people in the comments put two and two together and replied accordingly.
“Dude, let it go, mafs ended ages ago, mums are allowed to go out whenever they please, and you may not be aware of the custody schedule, so she could be going when she’s child-free. Please Don’t bring kids into it because us mums have a strength so damn lethal that comes out when our kids are dragged into adult drama,” one person scathed.
Another wrote: “This is like the third video I’ve seen where he mentions her child. Does he… have beef with a kid?”
“‘It wasn’t the kid, it was you’ What is he even on about????” someone else questioned.

Awhina’s son did not feature on MAFS Australia at all, which was probably a good thing, and she revealed why she didn’t instigate a meeting between the two men in her life during the homestays week.
“I was quite fortunate that I got to go home a few times throughout the experiment and usually I’d be so excited, even if it was just for 24 hours,” she explained.
“But this time was different. I imagined bringing my partner home, introducing him to my son, my family, my friends, but because of where we were at in the relationship, that just wasn’t going to happen. I think everyone can agree that Adrian and I have had a tumultuous journey so far. And even though we were in a good spot for us within the experiment, that was only because we’d pushed aside a lot of our issues.”
