‘They said no’: Anna Camp had this cheeky request after being cast as the twins in YOU

Anna Camp’s inclusion in YOU season five as Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, the half-sisters of Joe Goldberg’s wife Kate Lockwood, will go down in history as one of Netflix’s best casting choices.

This article may read like an ode to Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, because it basically is. Amidst a somewhat lacklustre ending to five seasons of YOU, the twins stood out as perhaps the most gripping characters with iconic lines, gawgeous looks, and enough use of the C-word to send any mother into a coma. We shouldn’t be surprised, though; Anna Camp’s unreal range is well documented in projects such as Pitch Perfect, True Blood, The Help, and House of Lies.

Though it’s yet to be revealed just how much the cast of YOU was paid for season five, Anna Camp has revealed how she requested double the money for playing double the characters. It seems fair, if you ask me.

“As soon as I got the call, I said, ‘Well, I’m going to have to learn double the lines, will I get double the money?” she told Page Six at the New York City premiere of YOU last week. “They said, ‘No,’ but I did ask. I had to ask!”

It was definitely worth a shot, but either way, the fan edits on TikTok should be payment enough.

“Just to finally be on set and learn both sets of lines and get both hair and makeup done and both wardrobe changes — I mean, it was something that was really exciting for me, a challenge,” she said, further adding how *that* mirror moment was a particularly proud moment for her.

While the focus is obviously on Joe Goldberg and whatever poor woman is the subject of his affections, this time around, Bronte, Anna Camp has been the unannounced MVP of the season for sure.

Underneath one TikTok edit, one person wrote: “Anna Camp killed this role for real!!!”

“Anna Camp also gives one of the best dual performances in a year full of dual performances #YouNetflix,” another said on Twitter.

Someone else wrote: “Can we also talk about Anna Camp’s performance in #YouSeason5!? Give that woman the Emmy now! #YouNetflix #You.”

“Anna Camp’s portrayal of Maddie & Raegan is SO fucking good, one of the best characters out of all seasons of YOU. Give her ALL the awards,” another exclaimed.

Netflix, if you’re reading this then I’ve got a pitch: A spin-off show centred around Maddie, who learns that Raegan’s personality is fighting for control. I’m thinking we call it – drum roll please – US!
