Netflix reveals sneaky way it avoided error filming Adolescence van paint scene in one take

During a scene in Adolescence on Netflix, Stephen Graham’s character Eddie Miller has graffiti put all over his work van. It’s now very well known each episode of the show was filmed in one-take, which begs many questions about how certain scenes were able to work.

People have been questioning camera trickery and genius hacks so that the episodes flowed so well. And during a Q&A posted to Instagram, Netflix shared all its secrets. One was people wondering how the van paint scene in Adolescence worked.

Following the word “nonse” being written across his work van, Eddie headed to a hardware store to try and get it sorted. There, he bought some paint to cover it up. But, in there, he met a member of staff who announced his “support” for what son Jamie had done. Jamie had been accused of killing a girl he went to school with.

Eddie reacted to this badly, as would be expected, and left the store. He then got the paint and chucked it all over the van. Netflix has since revealed many takes of the one-shot episodes were needed to get the perfect final one. So wait, how did they get the paint off to chuck it on over and over again? And how was the graffiti underneath still intact?
