The secret meaning behind the childhood pictures in the Adolescence opening credits

People have been wondering who the pictures are of

Since Adolescence dropped on Netflix, it’s become the most watched show worldwide. It’s already set itself up to be one of the most successful shows of the year. Everyone is hooked on the content of the show, so much so, people have noticed the very sweet detail of some childhood pictures that appear in the Adolescence opening credits.

As episode two begins, a montage of a number of photos of children appear on screen. Someone on Reddit asked: “Does anyone know the meaning behind the pictures of the kids in the intros for Adolescence? I found it so eerie with the soundtrack but I can’t see how they link to the actual show.”

So, who are the pictures of?

What are the pictures that are in the opening credits at the start of Adolescence on Netflix?

The general theory is that the pictures are childhood photos of the actors from the show. Netflix hasn’t confirmed anything, though.

Commenting on a Reddit post, one person guessed: “They are childhood photos of the child actors that are featured in each episode. I believe those photos are out in there to show that we are all innocent when we are young, but then when we become teens, the world corrupts us.”

And you can see why people think this. The pictures used in the show do look like baby-faced versions of some of the actors.

Other people think the photos could be of young knife crime victims, in an emotional tribute based on the topics the show covers. “I got scared that those are pictures of kids that got murdered in UK,” one person on Reddit said.

The Tab has reached out to Netflix for comment. Adolescence is on Netflix now. For all the latest Netflix news, drops and memes like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.
