Is Adolescence getting a season two? Netflix shares exciting plans for future of series
The limited series is not as limited as we first thought
Adolescence was supposed to be a four-part limited series, but following its overwhelming success, Netflix is reportedly considering a season two and more exciting expansions.
Netflix has hosted some truly banging content over the years, from huge shows such as Stranger Things to smaller projects like Baby Reindeer. Adolescence has been that project of March 2025 and it’s all anyone can talk about. Not only has it received some truly glowing reviews and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100 per cent, but it’s also got a serious message that has resonated with us viewers.
Naturally, the bigwigs at Netflix want to drain this cash cow for as much as they can get, and though I’m not usually a massive supporter of capitalist greed, this is one cash grab I can get behind.
Adolescence *might* get a season two at Netflix
Sometimes, studios and streaming platforms try to continue a massively successful project by cramming as much content down our throats as possible and it totally ruins it. But at the same time, and given the importance of Adolescence amid a growing trend of incel culture, a second season is looking more and more likely, according to a TV insider.
“Execs are thrilled by the results and acclaim for Adolescence,” the TV source told The Sun. “It’s seen as a format that can run and run, at least to a second series if not further, as it could take in a different teen issue each series.”
Further delving into the different “issues” teens are facing today, the source said that there are many avenues to explore when it comes to adolescence and “parents’ biggest fears.”

“The topic has resonated with viewers because it taps into parents’ biggest fear and there’s plenty of scope for more in the same vein,” they said.
While the performances from Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper are undoubtedly what grounded the limited series, the “one-take creative approach” was a huge talking point on Twitter and Reddit. Some people called it a gimmick, but it ultimately paid off in the end.

The source added: “Stylistically, the one-take creative approach could become the hallmark of the series. It’s one of the aspects which has got everyone talking.”
In 2025 teens are facing more issues than ever, as Stephen Graham himself told Virgin Radio: “When we were kids, when we were in our room, there wasn’t much we could do, really. Draw a picture, read a book, maybe play some videos.
“But today, when they’re in their room, with social media, with the internet, you don’t know. They’re going into loads of different worlds via the internet.”
Adolescence isn’t a whodunit, it is an amalgamation of real-cases, it is real life. Incels are no longer confined to a small subculture online that can just be waved off as a tiny minority. There are almost too many options for Adolescence season two. They could explore how young men are being drawn into far-right extremism, the prevalence of drug use in teenagers, the rampant homophobia and transphobia seen in schools, or the increasing mental health issues and lack of support. The sky really is the limit.
