Influencer Jools Lebron deletes GoFundMe and ‘leaves’ TikTok after ‘out of touch’ backlash

Jools Lebron, a TikTok creator with 2.6 million followers, is receiving backlash after setting up a GoFundMe to raise money for a dental surgery.

Influencer Jools first went viral in 2024 for her “very demure very mindful” TikTok, which has 58 million views and is referenced consistently both on the platform and offline. After a hiatus from the internet, she returned, sharing that she had been privately dealing with addiction issues and is now sober.

Late last week, Jools made a now-deleted video asking her followers for help to raise money for her dental surgery.

“This is a video I thought I’d never have to make. About four or five months ago I had a deal with a dentist, and he was going to take out all my teeth and give me a brand new set of teeth because through addiction my teeth are severely destroyed,” she said.

“I don’t want to ask my community for help, but I feel like I have no other choice at this point. I would love to go get a regular job, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think that’s going to help my situation.”

She continued: “All my teeth are moving, and they hurt all the time. And I just don’t want to be in pain.”

The GoFundMe was set at a goal of $45k, which would cover the expensive operation. However, the video quickly received a lot of backlash as people criticised the influencer for asking her followers who have ordinary jobs to pitch in towards the surgery.

Many are resharing an interview with Jools from the “very demure” era, where she said she was being offered $40k per TikTok video. Other people are encouraging her to get a job outside of influencing.

“Girl….. We are BROKE! TRUMP STARTED A DAMN WAR ….. NOT TODAY JOOLS,” one person commented.

But others are defending Jools, highlighting that getting a regular job won’t magically give her $45k.

“The thing is, the message was for those who have the means and heart to support. If that’s not you, nothing was needed. Especially dogging someone that needs help,” one follower commented.

The GoFundMe is no longer active, and everyone who donated has been refunded, according to Jools, who has now said she’s taking a step back from TikTok.

“If you want to hear my thoughts on this, go find me on Twitch,” she said. “We’re not getting anywhere now.”
