Viral queer artist returns with x-rated Disney images, a year after his sad death was announced

In an unexpected twist, a queer artist believed to be dead has reemerged on the internet, bringing Mr X-Toon’s filthy artwork back into focus.

Gay Twitter is a completely different beast to its straight counterpart, and some accounts are so well-known that they become quasi-celebrities. Mr X-Toon, real name David, was one such man, largely thanks to his x-rated artwork depicting popular fictional characters. He then turned those photographs into animations which are essentially p*rn. Sadly, in July of 2025, his death was announced.

“Hello. I’m Daniel, a close friend of David, widely known as ‘mrxtoon’ on the internet. He was an extraordinary friend, a brilliant artist, a family man and a source of joy in our lives. His artistry was unparalleled, and his dedication to his fans to give more was truly inspiring,” his friend said.

“He loved his fans, family, and creating art above all else. Though words can’t capture this feeling, I’m heartbroken to share that David passed away on July 25, 2025, at 7:30 pm alone in his residency. My heart still grieves as I inform his fans and friends of this devastating news. I seek closure in this difficult time. I hope David finds peace in eternity. You’ll be deeply missed, bud. Love, J, P, J, A & Daniel.”

No further details were offered, but as it turns out, Mr X-Toon is very much alive.

Mr X-Toon announced his return this week

Mr X-Toon has not posted on his account for ages, but this week he returned with a message. It turns out he was never dead, and the actual post may have been a cruel joke.

“I’m back. After a long time away dealing with personal matters, I’m returning to what I love most: Creating,” he wrote on Twitter. “Moano & Ariel is coming back too. Thank you to everyone who stayed. New content soon. Mr X-Toon.”

It’s not immediately clear what said “personal matters” were, but people were thrilled at his return in the comments.

One person said: “This is the closest we’ve been to the Jesus Christ resurrection.”

“Umm wait. What? Didn’t he… die? I thought his boyfriend confirmed it. Is this a cruel hacking? I’m so confused right now. I mean Mr X-Toon was my religion, sure, but I never thought he’d pull a Jesus,” someone else wrote.

When the artist disappeared from the internet initially, he’d been working on gender-bent renderings of Moana and Ariel. Fans got a few looks at the characters with their kit off, and now it looks like they’ll finally get to see the finished product.

I have about a million questions, but I’ll settle for why that seemingly random dude announced Mr X-Toon’s death.
