Here’s how to celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 in Lincoln

Grab your girlfriends and get involved

| UPDATED

It’s International Women’s Day today, so here are the best ways to celebrate with your girlfriends in Lincoln.

1. University events

The University of Lincoln is making efforts to promote and showcase the incredible work done by our female staff and students. For example, take a look at the library’s selection of female-written fiction and non-fiction then add your sticky note of a woman who inspire you to their display.

2. Odeon’s strong female lead movie weekend

In honour of International Women’s Day, Odeon will be screening Erin Brockovich, Julia Robert’s lawyer-single mother drama, as well as The Hunger Games in an effort to highlight films with strong female leads. The new Bridget Jones film is still showing so take a trip down memory lane with her too this weekend. Popcorn not necessary but highly advisable.

3. Charlotte House Women’s Empowerment Day lectures

A full day of talks and lectures given by entrepreneurial women will be followed by a party with a red dress code. Also, money raised from ticket sales will go towards the women’s mental health charity, Still She Rose. Get your glam rags ready.

4. Quality time with your girls

Whether you organise a picnic, go shopping, grab a coffee or just sit and have a good old chat, this weekend is the perfect time to connect with the women close to you. Plan your own movie night with your personal favourites. Have a Powerpoint night about all the beautiful things women share. Our sisterhood is vital so make sure to nurture it.

We hope you enjoy your International Women’s Day and be sure to let us know what you get up to over on our socials.
