A wise person once said that the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, and I wholeheartedly agree. One of my favourite things to do when the girls meet up, is go out for food!

In town, there are fab brunch options such as the Medicine Bakery, to share a colourful brunch, coffees and quality time with the girls. Some options even start on the doorstep of Selly Oak! Deli 17, located on Raddlebarn Road, is a great choice for selection of tapas, natural wines and cocktails. The food is amazing, small plates perfect for sharing with your besties.

If you are looking to save that coin, you and the girls can meet up and make some love heart shaped pizzas! Blast your music, get the pizza dough and toppings from the shop and get cooking! Alternatively, a “Bring A Board Night” is such a fun concept, catering for everyone’s tastes with fruit, sweet treats, savoury or drinks boards!

For the sippers

Now, if the girls want to let loose and get a bit crazy whilst keeping some class, there are some brilliant wine bars in Brum.

La Sante is a small independent French charcuterie and natural wine bar tucked away in Kings Heath. Me and the girls visited in January and their orange natural wine was amazing! Sharing a bottle over deep chat relaxed us all and is a great way to spend some quality time over a chilled bevragino.

Alternatively, Vagabond is in the city centre, a short walk from the station. This bar has what seems like endless options, so no matter what you are into it is one to check out for options galore! You can also get over 100 wines by the glass, so no need to split a bottle.

One of the best reasons to go to a wine bar to get drunk is nobody from the campus is gonna be there! You can chat as much rubbish about everyone and everything with only one look over the shoulder for the go-ahead.

For the creatives

If you and the girls want to get creative, then DIY Sip and Paint is the way to go. This is what I’ll be doing on Galentine’s! Whether you want to get dressed up, or chill in the comfort of your PJs, you can paint away with your besties.

You could draw on canvases or glasses/mugs and create cute personalised kitchenware you can keep, reminding you of your girls every time you open the cupboard. This is such a wholesome idea and is an affordable option on a student budget.

Similarly, you could do the completely free activity of having a vision board making session. There is nothing better than feeling supported by your friends, so brainstorming your dreams with besties is such a positive and loving idea for Galentine’s. You could even set goals together and hold each other accountable so you all progress!

For the runners

If you’re into running you could form your own little run club, and run around Cannon Hill Park or along the canal all dressed in pinks and reds, circling back for a post run pastry and coffee. It’s great to get active, especially with your friends motivating each other one mile at a time.

All in all there is so much love to be spread to your best friends and so much inspiration around for fun, quirky ideas that will suit any friendship group. It is just vital to remember to appreciate and take time for the girls no matter the month!
