All the February events in Newcastle NOT related to Valentine’s Day
Here’s some distractions for us singletons this February…
For some of us, myself included, Valentine’s Day and everything leading up to it is just a regular day. Walking past every shop attempting to make everything a commodity is so annoying – can you tell I’m bitter?
Anyways, here’s a compiled list of events in and around the Toon to keep you occupied during this month of PDA and cringey Instagram posts.
1. Craig David @ Utilita Arena
Nothing beats Anton crying when he saw Craig David 😂#LoveIsland pic.twitter.com/rLVklZ2JnG

This is purely inspired by Anton from Love Island crying over Craig David entering the villa x
I’d rather be crying tears of happiness over Craig David than any situationship this February. Limited tickets are available for his performance tonight, you don’t want to miss this. Do it for Anton am I right…
Date: Wednesday 5th February
2. Sausage and Cider Festival

A bit of sausage and cider, what’s not to love? Taking place at Newcastle’s Civic Centre this Saturday, there’s a sausage eating competition, silent disco and axe throwing (pretend it’s your ex). Alongside this, there’s also 30 different ciders and 20 sausage flavours. This is perfect for those wanting to extend their sausage palette beyond rugby boys made up of cans of Stella and toxic masculinity x
There’s an additional chilli eating competition if you fancy crying over something other than your uni situationship. Plenty of live music will also take place so you can sing your heart out after stuffing your face all day. General admission tickets are still available this weekend for those interested through this link.
Date: Saturday 8th February
3. GDT XXL

Fancy a rave? Look no further as this weekend the well-loved Groovy Disco Tech has expanded to NX with renowned DJs set to perform this Saturday. With the likes of Olive F headlining for their Carnival theme. Tickets are still available on Fatsoma for around £10 – get them whilst you can! Who knows, you could meet the love of your life at a rave x
Date: Saturday 8th February
4. Eatflix Newcastle
Created by the minds behind Brack Burger, Alfie’s and Pizza Globe, Eatflix is the new hub for all things food and film related. With it’s recent opening, the venue are showcasing classics such as Ratatouille – alongside this you can enjoy the gourmet food and drinks presented in the film. Classed as a 5D tasting experience, Eatflix is an immersive dining opportunity now available in the Toon. Click this link below to buy tickets, more films will be added as the venue grows.

This February, The Cog and Wheel have brought a special edition of their Margarita Month, with only costing £6 per marg and two for £10 this would be hard to miss. They’ve collaborated with Cazcabel Tequila to bring limited edition Margaritas for this month.
Their iconic Geordie bottomless brunch is also available throughout the week through from Monday to Saturday 11-3pm for only £30-35pp.
Available during February
6. Sunday Night Quiz @ The Holy Hobo
From just £1pp, The Holy Hobo are offering a chill Sunday night pub quiz to do with your housemates/pals. Alongside this, it’s two for one pints and house spirits 10-11pm and earlier on Happy Hour is available from 5-7pm. If you’re feeling peckish, you can also gran a gorgeous Sunday Roast and Pint/glass of wine for just £8.95. Lush x
7. I <3 Vintage @ Ouseburn Garden
I am sorry to mention “<3-ing” anything BUT it is nothing to do with Valentine’s Day. As a way to distract yourself from the celebration of love that shall not be named, why not do some retail therapy? Vintage sellers will be stationed at Ouseburn Garden on Sunday 16th of February from 12-5pm.
Although free entry, who knows how much money you have to spend to forget your feelings? My guess is at least three pairs of cute jeans and a tiny vintage top x
8. Gigs @ The Cluny
If shopping won’t distract you, surely live and loud music will? The Cluny in Ouseburn is hosting a whole range of gigs this February – perfect for you or a friend or both. Key word: FRIEND. Prices range from £10 upwards for tickets and there is the option to pay on the door.
From acts like Skarlett Riot to Mattiel and Dan Bryne, there is something for everyone. Nothing to make you forget your single status like a date with a brass band (Renegade Brass Band on the 20th of February).
9. Preview Screening of The Last Showgirl @ Tyneside Cinema
AND a Q&A with Pamela herself. Pre-recorded Pamela, I mean. For any Last Showgirl fans (or Pamela Anderson fans) Tyneside Cinema is offering a preview screening of the film on Monday the 10th of February – when general release isn’t until the 28th! What a steal x
Standard tickets are £13.75 and promise at least 1 hour 28 minutes of ignoring your situationship.
You’re welcome x
10. Walk for Warmth @ Newcastle City Centre
Why not do some good this February, despite the spite in your heart? Walk for Warmth is a family friendly 5k helping to raise funds and awareness about poverty in the UK. The route takes you from Grey’s Monument, through Exhibition and Leazes Park to St James for a drink and a sweet treat.
Take the opportunity to raise some money, some awareness and NOT TEXT YOUR EX.
Good luck avoiding your situationships and protecting your peace this February xx
