What went down between Chanel and Micah after The Ultimatum and where they stand now

They disappeared without saying goodbye

In season three of The Ultimatum on Netflix, Chanel and Micah decided to quit the show. They, alongside Vanessa and Dave, decided to leave the dating series early and head home.

The couple had been dating for two and a half years ahead of the Netflix show. It was Chanel who issued the ultimatum to Micah, so now a lot of people are wondering if the commitment she wanted was ever followed through on. During the show, it was said Micah already called Chanel his wife, but she said she no longer wanted to “constantly be called his wife but then nothing ever comes from it.”

After the six season three couples chose new partners to live out a “trial marriage” with, two of those abruptly left. In the middle of the night, they packed up and left it all behind.

So if you’re curious about what happened between Chanel and Micah after The Ultimatum, and why they quit, we finally have some answers.

Why did Chanel and Micah quit The Ultimatum season three?

There weren’t many scenes with Chanel and Micah during The Ultimatum season three, so there are a lot of questions regarding what went down. By the start of episode four, the couple had disappeared from the show.

“Earlier in the day, Dave, Vanessa, Micah, and Chanel secretly met off camera,” a title card read. “That evening, surveillance cameras captured them packing. Dave, Vanessa, Micah, and Chanel quickly departed, abruptly ending their experience.”

Nick and Mariah were shown arriving at the apartments to learn that their new partners had packed up and left without saying a word.

Whilst the couples themselves haven’t said much, show creator Chris Coelen revealed in an interview with Variety some of what went down. He said Micah left the production without speaking to anyone. Then, producers talked to Dave, Vanessa, and Chanel about whether or not they wanted to leave the show.

“My understanding and impression was that people within that group were a little unsettled,” he said. “But I feel like we’ve seen this in every season. You saw it when Lauren was going to pick Colby, then in season two with Lisa and Brian. They ultimately decided to leave.”

He said “most of the participants really commit to the experience,” but not everyone can deal with it. Chris said he received a call from a show runner, who told him Dave and Chanel let producers know they weren’t sure the experience was for them.

“Then they snuck around. As a group, they secretly met,” he said. “And listen, they’re adults. We don’t put restrictions on what people do or don’t do. But the expectation from the other participants is, ‘We’re going to be in trial marriages. Let’s actually do that, and not go hang out with our original partner.’”

Where are they now?

No official statement has been posted by either Chanel or Micah, but they’ve been back on Instagram which might hint where they are now. They shared a bunch of pictures together, on the day the show dropped.

As to whether they got married, I guess they’re not allowed to post any spoilers. So, we might have to wait for the show to end. If you’re expecting a dramatic reunion reveal, stop hoping now. Chris Coelen said in his interview the reunion has already been filmed, and Chanel and Micah did not attend. Is that a hint? We’ll have to wait and see.
