The incredible cast of Netflix’s Black Doves, and the shows and films you recognise them from

Long awaited spy thriller Black Doves is finally on Netflix, and the cast is nothing short of amazing. If Keira Knightly playing the lead wasn’t enough, Netflix has also bagged some top faces to play the other roles, too.

The show follows Helen, a secret agent living a double life. However, her undercover work as a member of the Black Doves is creeping up on her, and putting those closest to her in danger. It’s inspired by a real life scandal that shook the UK in 2010.

As I said, the cast is full of faces you most definitely know from some of your favourite shows. Here is a rundown of the cast of Black Doves on Netflix, and where you recognise them from.

Keira Knightley – Helen

Keira Knightly plays the lead, Helen. Helen is hiding a big secret in her marriage: She’s actually an undercover agent in a group called the Black Doves, and was having an affair. No biggie! You obviously know where you’ve seen Keira before, but I’ll list some of her big hitters anyway. Pride and Prejudice, Pirates of the Caribbean, Love Actually, Bend It Like Beckham. The list could go on.

Sarah Lancashire – Reed

UK drama legend Sarah Lancashire plays Reed, Black Doves boss. You definitely know her as beloved Catherine Cawood in Happy Valley, but you might also have seen her in The Accident, or Last Tango in Halifax.

Ben Whishaw – Sam

Ben Whishaw should fit right in the cast of Black Doves, as he’s well accustomed to spy thrillers. He played Q in James Bond before this role, and has also been the voice of Paddington in the most recent films! Not spy related, but there we are. He was also the lead in book adaptation, This Is Going to Hurt.

In Black Doves, Sam is an assassin, and an associate of Reed. He trained up Helen, and now they have a really strong bond.

Andrew Koji – Jason

Jason is a government official, who Helen was having an affair with. His death sparks the rest of the drama on the show. Jason is played by Andrew Koji, who had his breakout role as Ah Sahm in the Cinemax series Warrior. He then played Storm Shadow in Snake Eyes and Yuichi “The Father” Kimura in Bullet Train.

Andrew Buchan – Wallace

In Black Doves, Wallace is the husband of Helen – completely unaware of her secret life. He’s an MP, and if his career continues on its track, he could be PM one day. Wallace is played by Andrew Buchan, who you might remember as the dad, Mark Latimer, in Broadchurch.

His roles also include Scott Foster in BBC political drama Party Animals, John Mercer in ITV drama series The Fixer, and William Garrow in BBC period drama Garrow’s Law.

Omari Douglas – Michael

Omari Douglas is Michael, Sam’s ex boyfriend. Omari was Roscoe in It’s A Sin, and was also in Rye Lane.

Ella Lily Hyland – Williams

Williams is an assassin, and she’s played by Ella Lily Hyland. You might recognise her from Fifteen-Love, or Wrapped.

Paapa Essiedu – Elmore Fitch

Secret agent and hitman Elmore Fitch is played by Paapa Essiedu. He’s a very recognisable face, and you might know him from The Demon 79 episode of Netflix’s Black Mirror, or from The Capture, Gangs of London, or I May Destroy You.

Adeel Akhtar – Prime Minister Eaves

Prime Minister Eaves is played by Adeel Akhtar. Most recently you might remember him as the detective in Netflix series Fool Me Once. In 2017, Adeel won the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor for his role in Murdered by My Father.

Luther Ford as Hector Newman

There are a lot of criminals in this show and Luther Ford plays another one, Hector Newman. You’re probably racking your brains as to where you’ve seen his face before – he was Prince Harry in The Crown!!
