Wait, new Netflix spy show Black Doves is so great it’s already been renewed for season two!?
It’s only been out for ONE day!
Black Doves is the new star studded Netflix spy show that literally only dropped yesterday – and in the wildest of moves and news from the streamer the show has ALREADY been renewed for season two. And after watching the first few episodes, I can see why. Because this is one of the most fun and chaotic shows I’ve watched in ages and I’m devouring every second of it. In a very rare and pretty unprecedented move, Netflix has already confirmed that Black Doves is already getting a season two and has been renewed – here’s how.
If you’re not familiar with Black Doves yet, you can be forgiven – it’s literally been a day. But trust the duchess right now when I tell you that you will binge this show this weekend and be majorly obsessed with it. Black Doves stars Keira Knightley as the wife of the defence secretary in government, who for years has been leading a double life as a spy for the Black Doves – a secret organisation ran by Sarah Lancashire’s Mrs Reed. After Keira Knightley’s character Helen has an affair with a man who gets shot at the start of the show, things start to unravel – and Mrs Reed brings in Ben Whishaw’s Sam who is an old friend and hitman to try and sort the whole mess out.

So whilst most of us have not finished season one of Black Doves yet, we know we’re getting season two and the plot will not end with whatever thrilling final Netflix has in store for us across these six episodes. Netflix confirmed at the Edinburgh TV Festival that Black Doves will indeed return for season two – which is mad considering big budget shows like KAOS starring Jeff Goldblum earlier this year got cancelled after just one series. Even though they left things on a massive cliffhanger.
Basically, it’s going to be a huge hit. And when you watch a bit of it and see how silly, witty and thrilling it is and how fun the twists are it’s so easy to see why. It’s also weirdly festive? What a time to be alive.
Black Doves is available on Netflix now. For all the latest Netflix news, drops, quizzes and memes like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.
