Billboard is getting dragged for using Kanye West’s naked Taylor Swift figure in tribute post
Billboard has now pulled the video and apologised
There has been much build up to the release of who Billboard will be naming its greatest pop star of the 21st century, with the final two coming down to Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. There’s been big drama however, as Billboard is getting rightfully dragged for its tribute post to Taylor Swift coming in second where it used a shot of the naked wax figure from the highly controversial music video to Famous by Kanye West.
In its announcement post that Taylor Swift was named second greatest pop star of the 21st century, Billboard wrote on Instagram “After crossing over from country music to pop music at the turn of the 2010s, @taylorswift achieved success like we’ve never quite seen before, in either shape or size. Billboard looks back at the century in Swift, who took pop stardom to places we hadn’t previously thought possible.”
But in this post came a shot of Taylor Swift naked, her wax figure used in the Famous music video by Kanye West. How this managed to slip through the net and get posted is beyond me, but Billboard received a huge amount of backlash for this inclusion and the publication just issued an apology.
Writing on Twitter / X, Billboard said “We are deeply sorry to Taylor Swift and all of our readers and viewers that in a video celebrating Swift’s achievements, we included a clip that falsely depicted her. We have removed the clip from our video and sincerely regret the harm we caused with this error.”
To make matters worse, this apology is getting further dragged as people call it out for not being a simple error – and how such posts have to be approved by a huge amount of people before they go live.

The Billboard apology for the naked Taylor Swift wax figure appearance even had a community note added to it, calling it out as revenge porn. Yikes.
