People think this resurfaced Charli XCX Twitter beef is the reason she made Brat

How did Charli XCX decide to make Brat – her biggest commercial success and most acclaimed album? Well, there’s a theory that Charli XCX got to work on Brat after she got involved in some Twitter beef in 2022 regarding her Crash album. And whilst such a concept might sound kinda wild, it actually has legs when you think about things Charli has said about Crash in the wake of Brat – I’m obsessed.

It all started with a fairly innocuous tweet. In 2022, Charli XCX was releasing singles for her album Crash – which she described as her major label, main pop girl sell out album. She made her sound more commercial because she wanted to smash in the charts. The three singles, Good Ones, New Shapes and Beg For You had all dropped and a fan tweeted “These Charli singles so far… not doing it for me whatsoever, but she’s still in my mother list.” Ignore the Demi Lovato visual – just there for meme purposes and because it’s hilarious. This person obviously didn’t expect Charli to respond, let alone get six furious replies.

Charli XCX responded to the Twitter beef that may have started Brat saying “Ok, I’m not mad, promise – I just find the commentary interesting so I had to just dip into stan world for a sec. To me this is undeniably my most coherent era. Like obviously. Whether you like it or don’t, I don’t care but it’s cohesive and consistent.”

The OP then savagely responded saying “The only thing consistent about it is how underwhelming it is”. Howling.

Charli XCX also responded several more times to the original tweet – she was PRESSED. She misunderstood the mother comment, saying “If you wanna throw around midlife crisis fucking throw it at me. I’m getting older, I’m getting hotter, my tits are stunning. I’m in great shape, I’m dancing, I’m progressing and I’m living my best life.

“No I’m not being forced to dance. Totally my choice and one of the most liberating and fun decisions I’ve ever made. I still love y’all, but I’m not gonna let you talk your talk without me having my say too.”

There was also a deleted tweet where Charli said “Bitch bye, I will NEVER understand what possesses people to be such C*NTS online”. Wild.

The current theory says that Charli XCX was so rattled by this Twitter beef that she went into the studio mad as hell and made Brat to shut the haters up. “We should consider this post to be one of the greatest examples of the domino effect ever because without it we wouldn’t have Brat,” one fan says.
