Simone Biles’s husband is being dragged for Instagram post after her gold medal win

Simone Biles made her most historic leap at the 2024 Olympics in Paris this week when she became the most awarded US gymnast in Olympic history, and her husband celebrated her win in quite a controversial Instagram post.

She landed her eighth medal in the team final on Tuesday along with teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Hezly Rivera and Jade Carey. She smashed insane records last night, but was still super humble to the press after being told about her achievement: “I don’t keep count, I don’t keep stats. I just go out here and do what I’m supposed to and I’m doing what I love and enjoying it, so that’s really all that matters to me.”

However, on the other hand, Simone’s husband, Johnathan Owens, is fixed on making sure she gets the praise she deserves.

Her husband may be running the Simone Biles fan club online, but fans in the comments had a different perception of the Instagram post. Many were outraged by the fact that Johnathan was wearing the medal instead of Simone, with one user claiming that “I’m annoyed that he’s holding it like bffr it’s not YOURS. 😭”

The top comment on the post with nearly 10,000 likes read: “Why he holding it like he won it.”

Another user posted: “That’s Simone’s gold medal you’re holding, not yours my guy.”

Simone seems to be smitten with her husband, as seen in Simone Biles: Rising. I guess there’s an irony to his post, especially since his posts with Simone get around 100 times the likes he usually gets. Talk about queen of engagement!
