Fibbers is searching for a new home as current venue is going to be demolished

It will be the second time that the club has had to move in the last five years

Fibbers will be forced out of its current home in August following the Toft Green venue being sold to developers.

The building will be demolished and a hotel will be built in its place.

The news comes after plans for Salvos conversion were thrown out by the council.

Fibbers moved into its current venue in 2014, though has existed in York for 27 years.

Tokyo Industries, the company which owns Fibbers, had previously been under the impression that this would be taking place next year though the developers are hoping to have exclusive use of the property by 25th August 2019.

However, City of York council are yet to receive a planning application.

Any acts who were booked to perform at the venue after the 25th August have been contacted. They can either move their shows or wait until the clubs' future becomes clearer.

Tim Hornsby, founder of Fibbers, told York Mix "Fibbers has been part of York for 27 years – it is hard to imagine the city without it.

With so many potential venues in York, we are confident of finding a new home, so Fibbers can keep bringing great music to the city for at least another 30 years."
