In a recent list of the best workplaces to be LGBT by Stonewall, Sheffield University made it into the shortlist of the top 100.
The LGBT charity listed Sheffield uni the 61st best employer in the UK, based on an equality index which ranked work places on their culture, diversity and inclusion.
In the 2016 index, Sheffield is one of the few universities to get itself a mention in the top 100, only joined by a few others, such as Cardiff, Birmingham, Swansea, and Manchester.
Sheffield city council was also ranked an impressive 41st place in the list.

The equality index included over 400 organisations and 60,506 employees were surveyed, making it one of the largest employment surveys in Britain.
The Stonewall list is the first to examine trans-inclusive policies, and to look at the criteria for gender identity and sexuality.
Jenny Gwinnutt, an English finalist at Sheffield, is one of the many to praise the uni for making the list. She said: “It feels really positive to be a part of The University of Sheffield as they are setting an example and leading the way when it comes to sexual equality in the workplace.”
