Nottingham Trent is one of the only universities in the country that will *not* be striking

Almost all UK universities will be seeing three days of strikes in November

Whilst almost all UK universities will see three days of staff strikes later this month, Nottingham Trent is one of the only unis in the country that will not have lecturer strikes.

The university has said there will be no strike action at Nottingham Trent this term, and said the uni “decided the best course of action” for staff and students was to “agree our pay deal locally with our trade unions”.

As a result of this, all teaching and assessments at Trent will carry on as normal and there will be no disruption to students.

Almost every other university in the country, including the Uni of Nottingham, will have three days of Universities and College Union (UCU) strikes this month, on the 24th, 25th and 30th of November, as staff are campaigning for better pay and pensions, among other things.

The (very few) other UK universities that, along with Nottingham Trent, will not be striking this month are Birmingham City Uni and Ruskin College in Oxford. You can see the full list of striking unis here.

Last academic year saw up to 18 days of strike action at over 140 universities. A Tab investigation this summer found Russell Group unis saved £11million in withheld pay whilst lecturers were on strike last university year.

A spokesperson for Nottingham Trent said: “Contrary to claims by National UCU and subsequent reports in the media, at Nottingham Trent University there will be no strike action this term.

“We decided the best course of action for our community, both colleagues and students, was to agree our pay deal locally with our trade unions. As a result, all teaching and assessments will continue as normal and there will be no disruption to the student experience.”
