Um, Charli XCX just teased a collab with The 1975 on a Manchester billboard

We’re all talk talk

A brand new billboard in Manchester has appeared with the identical green shade and font as Charli XCX’s brat album.

But instead of brat, the text is framed on the right hand side and is inverted, reading “the 1975” backwards.

Located by Piccadilly Station, the billboard was spotted today by fans and is thought to be a teaser of a new Charli XCX collab with The 1975.

Spotted by fans today, the Charli XCX billboard in Manchester is one of a series of adverts which have popped up all over the world, located in the hometowns of famous artists rumoured to be on the collab.

And it’s certainly been Charli XCX’s year, that’s for sure. Her sixth studio album has been flushed with success, particularly on the student scene where Apple seems to be the new national anthem of Depot and pretty much any pub around Fallowfield. Even Kamala Harris and Barack Obama are reportedly fans.

Manchester students are rightfully buzzing about her upcoming performance in town in November, and now the lead up to the big gig has just got all the more exciting because that’s right. The brat wall has arrived.

Users on X have since gone mad over the news, with a Tweet sharing a photo of the billboard gaining over 80 thousand views in three hours. The Tweet has also received multiple comments from fans, asking for its location so they can see it for themselves.

Although Charli confirmed herself last month that “the brat summer has come to an end” – and whether or not it was a brat summer or espresso summer is a debate for another time – fans were thrilled to learn of the upcoming release of the album’s reimagined version.

And knowing that Miss XCX is not one to do things by halves, there has been all sorts of discussion about just what may be in store for her listeners.

Teasers for collaborations with artists such as Billie Eilish, Tinashe Bon Iver have already popped up on billboards across the world.

The Charli XCX billboard in Manchester has officially sparked rumours that fans may be in for a major collaboration between both icons. It is of course the very city that the band originate from.

And it’s fair to say that Charli is already somewhat involved with the band as drummer George Daniel happens to be her fiancé. They teamed up to record the track Spinning in 2021, and confirmed their romance via social media in 2022, before getting engaged last November.
