20 of the most hilarious fake ‘factcheckUK’ tweets from the election debate last night

“Swinson nukes squirrels.”

Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn battled it out in a live debate on ITV last night covering topics like Brexit, the NHS and even Prince Andrew.

Aside from a painfully awkward handshake and Johnson fluffing the question of what Christmas present he’d buy Corbyn, the biggest disaster of the night was clearly ‘factcheckUK’.

Re-branding itself with a fresh profile, the Conservative party's press office Twitter account claimed to be "fact checking Labour from CCHQ", in an attempt to catch Corbyn out during the debate.

Many people online were inspired by the move.

One by one, Twitter users began to change their profiles during and after the debate to match the Conservative’s "fact checker" and unleash chaos, throwing out statements that ranged from the insightful, to the downright bizarre.
