I’m not going to the gym in these clothes, but I look good

Let me wear what I want

Everyone at uni wears their own sporting uniform with pride – including people like myself who don’t actually play sport.

I’m not a member of our prestigious sports teams, nor do I go to the gym. But that doesn’t exclude me from wearing Canterbury leggings and Nike trainers around campus.

Here at Lufbra, you can’t escape athletic attire. It’s everywhere. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a gym novice heading to your first Powerbase session or a seasoned member of Hockey 1’s. Everyone joins in.

Every uni has a particular fashion sense: Bristol’s might be sporting the waviest garms you can find, while images of Oxford evoke red chinos with corduroy blazers. Of course, not everyone dresses like this, but stereotypes are hard to strip.

Given our unrivalled sporting prowess, Lufbra is associated with all the big athletic brands rolled into one. Kukri, Canterbury, Nike and Adidas – all of them are on display every day, making campus look like a walking catalogue for Sports Direct.

It makes sense, then, to follow type and join the crowd – not least because they’re incredibly comfy and instantly make you look better as a result.

The football lads and gym bunnies are usually hench, beautiful people, but sportswear enhances the attractiveness of anyone. Even if someone doesn’t register onto the worldie scale, their sports clothes hug their non-existent glutes perfectly, toning the parts that need toning and making them out to be at least a 7/10.

That’s because sports leggings give the allusion that you actually have a good figure. They hold in my thunder thighs and make me my bum look ever more round than usual.

Not only are sports leggings slimming and flattering, they also make me feel like a goddess amongst men. And at Lufbra where the ratio is 63:37, there are a lot of men.

Sports leggings create the illusion you have a body Kim Kardashian would be proud of

Last year, a relative of mine complimented me on how slim I looked. I told her it was the work of the thigh and hip-sucking leggings. She was so impressed she bought herself some and started recommending them to all her friends.

And who doesn’t wear sports trainers these days? Not only are they comfortable, but they’re really trendy. You can get them in pretty much any colour, meaning that they’re the perfect lightweight ensemble to any outfit.

You can wear Nikes with pretty much anything – jeans, shorts, dresses and leggings, making them the ideal pair of shoes to wear if you’re hiking across campus, or getting your shuffle on in Echos. They’re so versatile and definitely aren’t restricted to sweaty workouts in the gym.

Most importantly, if you wear sports clothes, people will think that you’re a hardcore gym-goer instead of the Netflix and Ben & Jerry enthusiast that you truly are. That reason alone is enough to make you feel better.

That said, I still won’t wear a Lycra sports bra. That’s just a stretch too far.
