Firefighters called to Hyde Park after roof explodes

The blaze started in the early hours of the morning

Firefighters were called to a house on Kings Avenue at around 4am on Tuesday morning when it erupted in flames.

Samuel Andrews, who lives opposite the house, woke up to the smell of smoke in his house.  He said: “My bedroom is directly opposite so I looked out and at that point there was only a small light. It hadn’t fully started at that point.” Soon after this, however, the whole front of the roof exploded.

When the scene settled down, investigators said that the fire was caused by a radiator leak that had gotten through to an electrical socket.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the fire, but if there was ever a good moment to check if your fire alarms, this would be it.
