London to Edinburgh trains will cost less than £25 with a new budget rail link

Choo choo hooray!

Everyone rejoice, because trains to London and Edinburgh are set to cost less than £25 as a high speed, low cost rail link is launching; possibly the best combination ever.

First Group have proposed this service, inspired by the Japanese bullet trains, and it will start in 2021 under the brand East Coast Trains Ltd.

The trains will have free onboard Wi-Fi, power sockets and at-seat catering.

The service will connect the capital cities of London and Edinburgh in about four hours. Trains will also call at Stevenage, Newcastle and Morpeth in Northumberland.

First Group have ordered five new intercity electric 125mph trains, at a cool £100m. This initiative plans to add more than 1.5 million seats each year.

The service will attract travellers who would normally fly, as many who travel from Edinburgh to London, choose flying as a result of lower prices.
