Class lists: The drama continues

Even if you opt-out your name could be on the online list…

32 members of the Regent House have signed an amendment to change the class list policy. The list displayed on senate house will continue to "exclude the names of any candidates who have requested the removal of their names in accordance with a procedure approved from time to time by the General Board".

However, if the amendment is passed this courtesy will not be extended to the copy of the class-list published in the Reporter. This version of the class-list "shall include all the names of those successful in the examinations", and will "be accessible at least to anybody currently involved in teaching in the University of Colleges, whether as a member of the academic staff of the University, Director of Studies, Fellow of a College, or Supervisor". A copy of the Reporter will be found in the University Library.

The senate house might as well become the new ADC with the amount of drama surrounding class-lists

The proposed amendment will be considered by the council on the 19th February. If it is passed this will mean that people who have opted-out of the class list will still be included in the online version. This can be accessed by anyone with a Raven ID. However, it is not clear if the list will include the class achieved or simply be a list of people who have passed.

The Tab have approached the university for comment. Whilst unable to clear up the specifics of what the proposed amendment would entail (whether the list on the Reporter will include degree classifications), they were able to confirm that "the Council will publish the outcome of its consideration of the proposed amendment, as brought by the listed members of the Regent House, in the Reporter in the next couple of weeks".

It is important to stress that if this amendment is passed, students who have opted out will be included in the online version of the class list and thus whether they have been passed (and potentially their classification) will be readily available.
