Single on Valentine’s Day? Here are 14 activities you can do with your pals in Bristol

Platonic love is in the air; grab your mates and enjoy a day of fun

Valentine’s Day is approaching. The Tinder premium subscription hasn’t taken its full effect, and the friends with benefits you hoped would turn into something more serious has not. Boom. You find yourself single on the most romantic day of the year.

Valentine’s Day can be an unwelcome reminder that you are very much single. As if the couples snogging in Senate don’t remind everyone of that fact enough.

However, it doesn’t have to be all gloom and doom. Avoid any breakdowns and remind yourself that being single is not the end of the world by taking part in any of these activities. They are sure to distract you and your fellow single friends from the crushing fear of dying alone.

1. Go for brunch

Palentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to try out that brunch spot you have been eyeing up all year. Get acquainted with your overdraft whilst munching down on some avo toast and an iced coffee. Heaven.

2. Visit Windmill City Farm

Stroking a goat is the best answer to loneliness.

3. Go for a walk

Go for a walk and explore what Bristol has to offer. The classic suspension bridge scramble is always a shout. Who needs a shag when you can avoid physical contact and get your heart racing in the freezing cold on the side of a cliff?

4. Pub

You cannot go wrong with a pub night. Get smashed and forget the fact that no one is smashing you.

5. Throw a dinner party

A dinner party is a great way to gather all your friends around one table and devour some delicious homemade munch.

Show off those cooking skills and enjoy a stress-free, cheap night in. Much more fun than squeezing into Molto Bueno and being forced to watch the couple next to you feed each other pizza.

6. Do some arts and crafts

Why not get creative and make something special with your close ones? This is an ideal way to get off your phone and avoid seeing Instagram couple posts.

7. Visit the Clifton Lido

For those with a larger budget, head to the Clifton Lido and enjoy a two hour swim, sauna and hot tub session. If you’re feeling even fancier, grab a drink or a bite to eat in the restaurant.

8. Chance and Counters

Go old school and enjoy Chance and Counter’s selection of 850 board games.

9. Axe throwing

Release your anger and sexual frustration by throwing some weighty wooden and metal sticks.

10. Movie night

Cuddle up on the sofa with your mates, grab some snacks and settle in for a night of movie magic.

11. Charity shopping

Take a leisurely stroll down Gloucester Road or wander around Clifton Village and pick up some funky new pieces to add to your wardrobe.

12. Visit an art gallery

Bristol is not short of a good art gallery. Soak in some culture and stare purposefully at a canvas whilst contemplating the meaning of your single worthless existence.

13. Makeover night

Reflect on ways to improve your appearance in the hope of increasing your sex appeal with a makeover. Try out a new look and give the Hinge profile an update.

14. Try out speed dating

If you aren’t ready to accept the single life, then we have got you covered. Scrap Hinge and Tinder and get yourself along to a speed dating night. To carry on the Friendletine’s Day theme, why not bring your mates? The more, the merrier.
