Official: 106,000 people applied for just 200 David Attenborough screening tickets

Were you one of the lucky ones?

Organisers of a forthcoming screening of Blue Planet II with David Attenborough have confirmed that more than 160,000 people applied for the 200 free tickets available.

The broadcasting legend is due to come to Bristol next week to host an early viewing of the first episode of the new series, prior to general airing on BBC One.

The forthcoming appearance kicked off something approaching 'Attenboroughmania' as scores of Bristol students sent in their applications on the Bristol website.

As The Bristol Post have noted, the demand to see Attenborough is even greater than that for Glastonbury tickets. Only 0.18% of those who applied for the Blue Planet screening got a ticket, compared to 9% of Glastonbury applicants who were successful.

As such you were 50 times more likely to get a Glasto ticket than to see the wildlife lover when he appears at the Showcase Cinema De Lux in Cabot Circus next Wednesday.

The event is being held to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of BBC Bristol’s world-renowned Natural History Unit this year.
