No more free coffee at Waitrose

The coffee game has changed.

For some of us the Waitrose coffee is more than just a coffee, it’s a gift and a status symbol that represents your middle class entitlement as you walk down Park Street with your bag for life and your reusable coffee mug.

Unfortunately, this blissful image will soon be a distant memory as from the 10th October some Waitrose stores are changing the coffee game.

Customers will now have to buy something to receive a free coffee.

This controversial move will be rolled out through various stores across the country but most importantly, in our very own beloved Queens Road store.

So what does this mean for us? Not much, if you know your kale from your cabbage then you probably already get a chocolate Praline Viennese biscuit with your coffee, or the odd cashew Assabee.

At the end of the day, this change will probably have very little effect on Waitrose clientele.

What is the harm in buying a one pound butterscotch pecan yum yum with your coffee?

After all, all is fair in love and Waitrose.
