An online fundraising campaign raised over £700 for Big Issue seller Jeff

It was the result of an Aprils Fool article claiming he’s running for mayor

An online fundraiser launched by Best of Bristol editor, Sam Gillies following an April Fools story he ran on Jeff, has resulted in £740 in donations for the Big Issue seller.

The Aprils Fool article stated that Jeff would be running for Bristol Mayor.

Although Jeff doesn’t actually have any political ambition, Sam was keen to show his appreciation: “We still want to raise some money for this amazing man to say thanks for how many times he’s made us smile.”

Sam described Jeff as “a true Bristol legend. There isn’t anyone else in Bristol who brightens up everyones days as much as him.”

Bristol legend, Jeff Knight can normally be seen charismatically selling papers on the triangle, but he is not exclusive to this patch. Frequenters of Stokes Croft will know that Jeff is often still out selling and swaggering late into the night

Jeff spoke to The Tab about the campaign, telling us he’s “very grateful”.

“It means a lot to me that the people of Bristol have come together and given me this. There are beautiful people out there and I am very grateful. I have learnt that money don’t give you happiness but it helps.”
