Exclusive: Game of Thrones are filming on UoB campus to accommodate Bran Stark’s studying

Old Joe will be making his TV debut

Did you think exams season was going to be dull, tedious and mindnumbing? Well stand corrected, because UoB students could get the chance to be extras in Game of Thrones.

It's been reported that scenes for the eighth season of the hit show will be filmed on campus. It has emerged that production had to be moved from Belfast to Birmingham so Isaac Hempstead-Wright can resume filming, whilst also revising for his exams.

First year Isaac, who studies maths and music, plays Bran Stark, the younger brother of Jon Snow. Producers have said filming at UoB will allow Isaac to "keep on top of his university work" while still being fully involved with the show.

After "extensive deliberation" by the university, the Guild and the GoT production team, a final decision has been made to use UoB's redbrick landmarks as filming locations.

It is thought that GoT producers will use UoB's prestigious landmark, Old Joe as a backdrop for The Tower of Hand which is located in the Red Keep Castle in King's Landing.

An inside source told the Tab: "The university is really excited to be hosting the Game of Thrones cast, they think it'll be a great way to show off the uni."

It's been reported that filming will begin in September 2018, and will soon be advertising for extras.

Before you get too excited, it would be worth checking the date.
