The IT Services Desk have reported an Office 365 authentication issue, which has cut off all access to staff and student emails.

IT Services have been keeping students and staff updated via their Twitter account, after complaints of difficulty accessing university emails were reported at around 9am.

Well this is inconvenient…

IT Services reassured the University that both student and staff emails are under investigation and Tweeted an update an hour later that a fix was being carried out.

IT Services to the rescue

Birmingham are not the only ones affected, as Glasgow have been experiencing similar problems.

Louise Kennedy, a Mechanical Engineering student at Glasgow said: “It’s incredibly irritating when it’s a vital tool for Uni.”

Students are trying to remain resilient in the face of adversity.

Third year English student Ciara Tomlinson said: “I’ve just got on but it was really annoying. I have a seminar this afternoon in which we have to answer some question on the reading for this week, but the PDF on Canvas and our print outs only had every other page, so our lecturer emailed us a link to the full version.

“I thought I had all morning to read it, but I spent most of that time trying to get into my emails and reading every other page of the text, not understanding anything. I’d planned to be totally productive today, and didn’t count on my emails stopping me!”
