University of Birmingham second year Jade Taylor has chopped a whole ten inches off her hair to raise money for charity in commemoration of her Grandmother who passed away from cancer when she was just five.

English Literature and Hispanic Studies student Jade donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, managing to raise £371 for Mencap in the process.

It’s the fourth time Jade has donated her hair in order to raise awareness and money.

She told The Tab: “My hair was getting ridiculously long when I was younger and my auntie told me about LPT Online – a charity that makes real-hair wigs for children who lose their hair to cancer treatment.

10 inches exactly.

“Cancer is a massive problem to deal with for anyone, especially a child.

“I think that something as simple as a wig can allow a child with cancer to feel and be treated more ‘normal’ – I hope that makes them stronger.”

Bye, bye.

Jade added: “I first donated when I was in year seven, so I was about 11. I’m 19 now, and have done it four times.

“It grows pretty fast!”

She finished up by saying how “it’s fabulous to keep raising awareness for all of the charities.”
