Tributes paid to drama lecturer David ‘Blummers’ Blumfield who died at the weekend

He was the life and soul of the Theatre department


Tributes have flooded in for drama teacher David Blumfield who died on Saturday morning at Bronglais Hospital.

The cause of his sudden death has yet to be disclosed.

The much-loved lecturer was one of the primary drama teachers at Aberystwyth University for almost 20 years, working  with students and the local community through his adult drama group Castaway held at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre.

David will leave a lasting legacy, with many students deeply saddened by the news of his untimely passing.

One student, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I was honestly shocked to hear of his death – he was such an important part of my department I think we’re all going to miss him.

“Thinking back he was involved in everything to do with drama around here – it’s going to be a very different place without his energy and enthusiasm.

“Rest in peace Mr Blumfield.”

The university are yet to release an official statemtnent.
