Third year given 50kg of salt for his birthday in the oddest prank ever

That’s enough for 50,000 tequila shots

An unlucky finalist was handed a two huge blocks of salt on his birthday in what is possibly the most bizarre prank of the year.

English student Ben Odero, whose favourite phrase is “salty”, was presented with 50kg of the stuff on his 21st birthday,

Ben, who studies at Aberystwyth, told The Tab: “We’ve got enough salt to see off 50,000 tequila shots, and I won’t have to worry about running out of salt for cooking.”

Ben added: “I was told repeatedly that I was getting salt, but I didn’t want to believe it at all.”

“I am relieved though, my imagination was running wild.”

Unsurprisingly Ben has already started planning his revenge.

He said: “I started plotting my revenge last night, but it’ll take a few weeks to set up though.

“Considering  my friends got a giant skeleton for another friend last year, no I am not surprised at this.

“My prankster friend Andy likes to spend his money on stupid things, this is a fact.”

The present was given by serial pranker Andy Wilmot, who studies Business and IT,  and has previously bought an entire skeleton as a gift.

Explaining the bizarre gift, mastermind Andy said: “One of Ben’s favourite phrases is describing someone as ‘salty’ about things.”

“And in our friendship group, myself and Ben of mine are constantly referred to as being salty, which is another term for being annoyed – so it was fitting I suppose.”

Amazingly 50 kilograms of salt costs a substantial lot less than expected with a 25kg bag costing only £1.99 at a wholesalers website.

When asked about the previous skeleton prank, Andy admitted “It was the best £100 I’ve ever spent.”

He added: “The skeleton has a name as well, we put him in the front room of our house and call him Napoleon Boneyparts.

“I haven’t finished the revenge plan yet, but it’ll include quite possibly copious amounts of glitter.”

They even filmed the whole salt unveiling, so you can see Ben look less than impressed at his new gift.
