The men’s rugby union team have been suspended from matches, socials and Varsity pending an official investigation.

The news was delivered to the unsuspecting boys halfway through their training yesterday, but it is unclear at this moment in time why they have been suspended.

The team are understandably devastated as they are not even allowed to train.

Rugby player Owen said: “The whole team is being investigated. I am gutted.

“I just want to play rugby, that’s all. I can’t do it now.

“We just don’t know anything because we are under investigation. I can’t think of anything, I don’t know what it’s about.

“It’s being dealt with our Rugby Committee. We were halfway through training yesterday with the Welsh Development Coaches and we’ve just been told we’re being suspended due to pending investigation.”

In their official statement, the Union said: “The Aberystwyth University Men’s Rugby team has been temporarily suspended pending an investigation by the Students’ Union.

“The suspension covers any socials, games or training. AberSU will not comment further on this matter.”
