Jasmine’s mum releases lengthy statement about how she came across on Love Is Blind UK

‘I am a mother and I thought I was being a mother’

Jasmine’s mum has released a statement about how she came across when her daughter’s fiancé Bobby met her for the first time during the experiment on Love Is Blind UK.

People called Jasmine’s mum Marisa “overbearing” as she grilled Bobby over his life, and called him “uneducated” for not having a degree. She seemed to question the entire experiment, and why Jasmine would have wanted to find love this way. She intensely questioned Bobby about his schooling, past girlfriends, how much he earns at work, and plans to move to London.

“It’s very difficult to communicate with an uneducated person,” Marisa said as she explained she is “very protective” over Jasmine. She explained she has been through two failed marriages, and doesn’t want the same for Jasmine. “I’m very much involved with Jasmine,” Marisa said. “If you have secrets, tell me first, I am the best friend you could ever have.” Jasmine said she couldn’t go on telling her mother everything, to which Marisa strongly disagreed.

Now, posting on TikTok following the Love Is Blind UK episodes, Jasmine’s mum Marisa has shared a statement which she captioned: “Please stop the hate.” In it she asked people to forgive her if they disagree with her behaviour, and admitted it was “unpleasant” when she hinted Bobby is “uneducated.”

“To all viewers of Love Is Blind UK,” she said. “Thank you for watching the show. May I request people to not foster hatred on social media. I am a mother and I thought I was being a mother. Forgive me if you have a negative opinion of my behaviour. You are all entitled to your opinion but remember we are all human.

“There were words that were said and the meaning in my head was different. We are all individual with different social and cultural backgrounds. My first language is Tagalog, not English.”

Marisa continued: “I myself felt uncomfortable watching the ‘uneducated’ part, I am sorry it was unpleasant. Let’s move on from that statement. Jasmine was safely raised to the best of my ability. I guided and protected Jasmine until the age when she is able to defend herself.

“As a mother, I was nervous and scared Jasmine is getting married under the experiment. I want her happiness, I want the best for my daughter. Again, please remember I am human. We all are.”
