You’ve heard of the standard negroni, which is pretty boujie as it is, so what on earth could this one be? The audio is going viral on TikTok, and now over 14k people have used the sound. So, here are all the answers about it you need.

So, what is a negroni sbagliato with prosecco in it?

First things first, what the hell even is this drink? A classic negroni cocktail contains equal parts gin, vermouth, and Campari. Sbagliato translates to “mistake” in Italian, and is to do with the spirits in the drink. So basically, a negroni sbagliato is when you put prosecco in the drink, instead of the usual gin.

Apparently, the drink became a thing by accident. Reports say a bartender once reached for gin and grabbed sparkling wine instead, and it ended up sticking around.

Is the drink even nice though? A negroni is pure alcohol, so is very strong, and it’s bitter. It is definitely a love it or a hate it sort of drink. The switching of gin to prosecco makes it a bit more bubbly, which might actually make the standard negroni a little nicer. It’s described as a  “bitter, fruity, and bubbly” version of the old classic.

Where did the TikTok sound come from?

So, the explanation of where the drink came from sort of makes more sense in terms of where the TikTok audio comes from. It’s from a chat between House of the Dragon stars Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke. Olivia asks Emma what their favourite drink is, to which they reply: “Negroni sbagliato, with prosecco in it.” Of course, now you can understand the “with prosecco in it” is explaining what makes the negroni sbagliato different, and isn’t the full name of the actual drink they mean.

But I think the main thing nobody can get over is the way Emma D’Arcy says the drink name. Honestly, it’s art. I could listen to them say it over and over again. “The voice my friends the voice,” is the top comment on the original TikTok, posted by HBO Max.
