The I’m A Celebrity web: This is how the contestants are all connected to each other
Beverley was in an episode of Eastenders with Shane
All the campmates on this year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here seem to be getting on pretty well. Of course doing gruelling changes, living in a small shared space and cooking meals together is going to get you pretty close. But it also helps if you know some of the people before hand.
A number of this year’s contestants already knew each other before entering the castle, and if they didn’t directly know each other there’s a lot of connections between them all.
The celeb world is actually very small, so it makes sense that they’ve interviewed each other, worked together or even gone to the other’s wedding.
This is how the celebrities on this year’s I’m A Celebrity contestants know each other outside the show:
Victoria was Jordan’s boss
Imagine turning up for day one in the castle and your old boss is there? Must have been wild for Jordan to discover his old boss Victoria Derbyshire would be joining him for a few weeks of hell.
Jordan used to work at BBC Radio 5 as a runner and Victoria used to boss him around. They are the only I’m A Celebrity contestants to openly say they know each other when they started the show.
Vernon was at Dec’s wedding
Ok so not technically a contestant but a nice little fact. No wonder Vernon was so comfortable with Ant and Dec during the eating trial, he’d already been to Dec’s wedding.
Vernon and Tess attended Dec’s wedding to Ali Astall in 2015.
Beverley was in an EastEnders Comic Relief special and played Shane’s mother-in-law
In 2010 Corrie legend Beverley joined the cast of EastEnders for an episode. The episode was for Comic Relief and it was heavily teased that Beverley was playing Kat Slater’s mother.
And of course Kat Slater was married to Alfie Moon played by Shane Richie, so the pair have already worked together.
Victoria knew Shane’s ex wife
They didn’t necessarily know each other before I’m A Celeb, but they do have someone in common. Victoria Derbyshire appeared on The Full Monty to raise awareness for breast cancer.
She was on the show with Coleen Nolan, who is Shane Richie’s ex-wife and the mother of his two eldest children.
Victoria interviewed Mo Farah
On I’m A Celeb we saw Victoria ask Mo lots of questions about his childhood, but turns out she’d already interviewed him.
Back in 2013, he appeared on her radio show on BBC Radio 5 and a throwback picture of them was posted on Victoria’s Instagram recently.
Shane and Vernon have partied together
It’s probably pretty likely that a lot of I’m A Celeb contestants have already met before at various showbiz parties, but the only photo evidence so far, is of Vernon and Shane.
In 2018 they were pictured at a celebration for British Airways raising £20million for Comic Relief.
