Derry Girls season two was put on Netflix and then taken off in less than a week

If you just got halfway through Derry Girls season two on Netflix, feverishly bingeing it so much that you now think in a Northern Irish accent and want to put “awk” before every word, you’re going to be mighty upset when you find out it’s already been taken off Netflix. And it was only put on a week ago!

I know. I’m hurt too. We’re all hurt. It’s also very bamboozling, yes I said bamboozling, because things do not usually get put on Netflix and taken straight back off in less than a week. Let me explain why.

Why was Derry Girls season two taken off Netflix?

Despite being the most popular streaming site in the world and worth billions, Netflix is still prone to making little silly mistakes. If you want to bang on Netflix’s door right now and scream desperately “WHY WAS DERRY GIRLS TAKEN OFF NETFLIX?!” save your breath, because it’s coming back.

Essentially, it seems to have been a bit of a scheduling error. Derry Girls season two was originally scheduled to be put on Netflix in August, but it was put on a week ago instead. As much as we may have thought we got handed an early birthday present, it was snatched straight back from our grasps as Netflix announced today that Derry Girls had been taken off Netflix. Just the second season though, so you can rewatch season one in the meantime.

When is it coming back?

Netflix didn’t specify in their tweet when season two would be put back on the streaming site, Derry Girls season two was originally scheduled for August 2nd. I’m not saying it’ll be back then, but we can hope. Until then, it’s all available on All4, but you’ll have to watch with ads (yuck!). Oh well. We move.
