All the celebrities publicly calling out Ed Sheeran after Macklemore is dropped from tour

Lots of celebrities have been backing Macklemore on social media after he was dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour this week over pro-Palestine comments he made on stage, but here are the ones specifically speaking out against Sheeran. 

The rapper was kicked off the Loop Tour, which he was a support act for, by Bob Kraft, for making a “Free Palestine” speech during a performance at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on 4th September. Kraft Sports Group owns the Gillette Stadium near Boston where they were due to play next, and orchestrated Macklemore’s removal over the comments, which he claimed were “deeply offensive and hurtful to the Jewish community”. 

After Macklemore announced that he had been dropped in an Instagram statement, loads of celebrities including Zara Larsson, Kehlani and Paloma Faith flooded the post with support. But some have been even more vocal against Ed Sheeran on social media since then.

Actress Hannah Einbinder wrote on her Instagram story: “Ed Sheeran i say this as a ginger. i hope you get a REALLY bad sun burn the kind on the back of your entire body where it hurts to lie down or walk or sit.”

Wicked star Marissa Bode, who has used a wheelchair since she was 11 after a car accident left her paralysed, added: “Ed Sheeran, my legs may not work like they used to before, but at least I have a f**king spine. Free Palestine, b**ch.”

Children’s educator Ms Rachel also spoke out, writing: “Ed Sheeran had an opportunity [to] show that we won’t be bullied into punishing people for supporting Palestine. Instead he caved to people who refuse to accept what the world knows. A genocide is happening in Gaza. We all need to speak out against it.”

In the caption, she added: “If more than 20,000 white children were killed in another part of the world, everyone would be shouting about it at their concerts. Treating some children’s lives as less worthy of outrage is racist. Silence during a genocide is not neutral.”

Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters, who’s known for his political activism, shared a whole video of himself slamming Sheeran directly. 

He said: “I just have a little message for you [Sheeran]. There are two kinds of people in this world, Ed. There are people who do the right thing, that rapper Macklemore would be one of those people. And there are people, many of them sadly little f… excuse me, I nearly used the F-word then, p**cks like you who do the wrong thing. Goodbye.”

Influencer Maddie Grace Jepsen also commented under Macklemore’s post: “What the F*CK! Wow I’m beyond disappointed in Ed and his team for this. Keep speaking up for what’s right.”

In response to the backlash, Sheeran claimed that Macklemore coming off the tour was the “promoter’s decision, not mine” and added: “I am not complicit. I have my personal views on this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn’t mean I don’t have them, and it doesn’t mean I don’t care. Nor does it mean I don’t support causes in my own, personal way,” he wrote.”
