Film stars to singers: The A-listers who are team Macklemore after Ed Sheeran booted him off tour

After Ed Sheeran kicked Macklemore off his tour over his pro-Palestine remarks, many A-listers have shared their support by interacting with the singer’s now-viral post. 

The whole drama is about two words: Free Palestine. With the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the continued occupation of the West Bank, Macklemore used his platform to ensure that Palestinians know “we have not forgotten about them.”

It sparked an angry statement from the Israeli American Council and a very public fight with Pink, forcing Ed Sheeran to cave to the alleged demands of stadium owners, rallied and inflamed by billionaire CEO Robert Kraft. 

Macklemore did not hold back as he broke his silence, and though he described Ed Sheeran as like a “brother”, he argued, “our friendship can’t change my responsibility to tell the truth about what happened.”

Ending his lengthy message, Macklemore said: “If those words cost me the stage, while turning the conversation back to Palestine, then it was the most successful tour I’ve ever been on.”

Celebrities have come out in force to support Macklemore

Ed Sheeran has recieved a massive amount of backlash for removing Macklemore from the tour, so much that his Instagram follower count is dropping massively. At the same time, Macklemore’s is going up. 

On the post, which has since gone viral, an array of names interacted with, commented on, and liked the message in support. 

“Full solidarity and free Palestine. Artists’ very active silence in the face of injustice and genocide will not be forgotten,” Greta Thunberg wrote. 

Kehlani said: “A LOT of the venues/owners are rallied together this way. Honoured to know you brother. adore you. behind you!!!!”
