Love Is Blind creator reveals why no couples got married for the first time in show history

He said this experiment ‘doesn’t guarantee marriage’

For the first time in the Netflix show’s history, Love Is Blind ended a season with zero marriages. Sometimes, only one or two get past the altar, but the Denver-based season nine left everyone single, and the show creator Chris Coelen has explained why that happened.

Chris reveals that the city they hosted season nine in “brought a different energy” and said: “The Denver group brought intensity and introspection. It’s fascinating to see how that shaped the season.” It comes as loads of people felt the cast felt really unique this time.

Past seasons were in Dallas, Charlotte and Dallas, which were similar to each other. He said: “This experiment is about emotional vulnerability, not about guaranteeing marriage. If one person walks away having learned about themselves, then to me, that’s success.”

Chris claimed it doesn’t bother him or the show’s production team that nobody got married this season. “The beauty of Love Is Blind is that it’s real. People aren’t reading a script or following what we want them to do. Sometimes they say yes, sometimes they don’t,” he said.

“Whether they succeed or fail, trying is the most enjoyable and important part to me. It shows the participants made real choices based on authentic emotion,” Chris added, after Ali said no to Anton, and KB said no to Edmond, while Megan and Jordan didn’t make it to the altar.

Cast member Jordan has also given his take on why nobody got married. He told Variety: “It’s a condensed experiment. Everyone was down to earth enough to be like, ‘This is my life, and I don’t need to get married to satisfy a bunch of fans.’ It’s a real marriage.”

“You get a real marriage certificate. Everyone made the right choice, because we’re not getting married just because it plays well on TV. We don’t care what the fans think because this is our life. We’re regular people,” Jordan continued.
